Code of Conduct

We want Talegen spaces to stay useful, respectful, and easy to work in. That covers our company channels and our open-source work on GitHub, docs, and community forums. You should be able to ask questions, share code, and disagree about technical choices without dealing with harassment or bad-faith noise.

This page is adapted from the Contributor Covenant, version 2.1. It is our public standard for how we show up together. It is not a substitute for our Terms or Privacy pages.

Our pledge

We as members, contributors, and leaders pledge to make participation in Talegen community spaces a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, caste, color, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

We pledge to act and interact in ways that keep these spaces open, welcoming, diverse, inclusive, and healthy.

Our standards

Behavior that helps these spaces stay healthy includes:

  • Showing empathy and kindness toward other people
  • Being respectful of differing opinions, viewpoints, and experiences
  • Giving and gracefully accepting constructive feedback
  • Owning mistakes, apologizing to people affected, and learning from what happened
  • Focusing on what is best for the community, not only for one person

Unacceptable behavior includes:

  • Sexualized language or imagery, and sexual attention or advances of any kind
  • Trolling, insulting or derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
  • Public or private harassment
  • Publishing someone else's private information, such as a physical or email address, without their explicit permission
  • Other conduct that would reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting

Enforcement responsibilities

Talegen community leaders clarify and enforce these standards. When behavior looks inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful, they take fair corrective action.

Leaders may remove, edit, or reject comments, commits, code, wiki edits, issues, pull requests, and other contributions that do not align with this Code of Conduct. When it makes sense, they will explain moderation decisions.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies in all Talegen community spaces. That includes GitHub organizations and repositories under Talegen, project documentation, issue trackers, discussion forums, chat or Discord-style channels we run, events we host or sponsor, and official Talegen email or social accounts.

It also applies when someone is officially representing Talegen or a Talegen open-source project in public. Examples include using an official Talegen email address, posting from an official social account, or acting as an appointed representative at an online or offline event.

Enforcement

Report abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior to Rob Kennedy at rob@talegen.com or by phone at (717) 382-8366.

We review and investigate complaints promptly and fairly. People handling a report must respect the privacy and security of the reporter.

If you are unsure whether something crosses the line, still reach out. A short note with links, screenshots, or a timeline helps us act faster.

Enforcement guidelines

Community leaders follow these Community Impact Guidelines when deciding consequences for behavior that violates this Code of Conduct.

1. Correction

Community impact: Use of inappropriate language or other behavior that is unprofessional or unwelcome in the community.

Consequence: A private, written warning from community leaders. The warning names the violation and explains why the behavior was inappropriate. A public apology may be requested.

2. Warning

Community impact: A violation through a single incident or a series of actions.

Consequence: A warning with consequences for continued behavior. No interaction with the people involved, including unsolicited contact with those enforcing the Code of Conduct, for a stated period. That covers community spaces and external channels such as social media. Breaking those terms may lead to a temporary or permanent ban.

3. Temporary ban

Community impact: A serious violation of community standards, including sustained inappropriate behavior.

Consequence: A temporary ban from any interaction or public communication with the community for a stated period. No public or private interaction with the people involved, including unsolicited contact with those enforcing the Code of Conduct, is allowed during that period. Breaking those terms may lead to a permanent ban.

4. Permanent ban

Community impact: A pattern of violating community standards, including sustained inappropriate behavior, harassment of an individual, or aggression toward or disparagement of classes of individuals.

Consequence: A permanent ban from any public interaction within the community.
