The Problem
Online dating asks people to invest time and trust before they know whether a profile is real, a conversation will continue, or a match has much in common with them. Ghosting ends conversations without closure. Catfishing makes identity a question, while fast, surface-level matching can leave people with plenty of introductions but few meaningful connections. Swept Dating began with those three problems, not a list of features borrowed from other apps.
The Opportunity
We saw a chance to address each problem at the point where it appears in the dating experience. Better communication needs more than another inbox; people need an easier way to be clear about their intentions and close a conversation respectfully. Trust needs a verification path, and match quality needs more to work with than a photo and a swipe. That gave the product a clear design test: could those choices fit into one usable journey rather than three disconnected features?
What We Built
Swept brings communication prompts and graceful-closure cues into the conversation flow, ID and photo verification into profile trust, and personality insights into matching. Its HEXACO assessment gives people a way to describe how they connect, with results used as one compatibility signal rather than a promise of a relationship. The stack includes Flutter mobile apps, a .NET backend, Azure, AWS, and GCP with Firebase Messaging. Together, those pieces support a product built around accountability, identity, and more intentional introductions.
Where It Stands
The Swept Dating site presents the verification, communication, and personality-led matching experience to prospective users. The work shows what it takes to turn a familiar market frustration into connected product flows across mobile, backend, and messaging systems. It makes the three original problems visible in the product decisions, from a verified profile to a more intentional match and a better way to close a conversation.
