Nevada: A Service Economy Built On Schedules, And Almost All Of It Small
Nevada's employer economy is dominated by sectors that run on schedules and foot traffic. The 2023 County Business Patterns counts 77,297 employer establishments statewide in Nevada, and 94.4% of them have fewer than 50 employees; the same file counts 54,202 employer establishments in the Las Vegas metro (Clark County), 94.4% of them under 50 employees. Accommodation and food service is the state's largest employment sector; in Clark County alone the 2023 County Business Patterns counts 5,780 employer establishments in the sector, and statewide the sector tops 7,979 establishments. The Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance, the regional development group, names healthcare and biotech, advanced manufacturing, clean tech, fintech and sports tech as target industries for diversification. Those are institutional priorities, not a description of any particular business, and none of it says which tools your team runs.
